More funding for Migration Projects at University of Gothenburg

Published

In addition to the nine migration research projects already funded by the Swedish Research Council (VR) and Forte in October and November last year, researchers at the University of Gothenburg have received funding for three more projects.

The fact that the three grants go to three different faculties is also gratifying as it shows how widely represented migration research is throughout the university.

Aimee Haley, the Department of Education and Special Education, Faculty of Education has received a networking grant from the Swedish Research Council (VR) for the project Kapacitetsuppbyggnad av Svensk-Etiopiskt internationellt samarbete (Capacity building for Swedish – Ethiopian International Cooperation), in the subject areas of Pedagogics, International Migration and Ethnic Relations.

The awarded grant for the two-year project is SEK 480 326.

Sebastian Linke and Alin Kadfak, both at the School of Global Studies, Faculty of Social Sciences, have received the Swedish Research Council (VR) grant in Sustainability and Resilience for the project Hållbarhet för fisk och fiskare? Mänskliga rättigheter för burmesiska migrerande fiskare i EU-initierade hållbara fiskereformer i Thailand (Sustainability for Fish and Fishermen? Human Rights for Burmeese Migrant Fishermen in EU-initiated Sustainable Fishery Reforms in Thailand).

The awarded grant for the two-year research project in the subject area of Development Research is SEK 3 695 923.

Kristine Køhler Mortensen, Department of Swedish, Faculty of Arts, has received an international post-doc grant from the Independent Research Fund Denmark for the project 'Sexual Integration': Sexuality in Global Migration. The project is in the subject area of culture and communication, and will analyse education in “sexual morals” for newly arrived in Denmark.

The awarded grant is DKK 1 513 681.

Congratulations to all involved!
